For our first production at the Fringe Festival, NSC is privileged to present the world premiere of Cincinnati native playwright Andrew Dainoff's one-man play, All We Can Handle . The play has had two major readings at New York 's Public Theatre, one of which starred Tony Nominee Raul Esparza (star of Playhouse in the Park's new production of Company). NSC developed the piece with the playwright at last season's New Directors Workshop Series, and is thrilled to present director Andrew Lazarow's powerful world premiere production at the Fringe.
Dainoff's monologue tells the story of David, a jazz guitarist who moves to New York for a woman he barely knows. The attack of the World Trade Centers on September 11th, 2001 occurs shortly after David moves to New York . CCM Drama Senior Adam Standley portrays over ten different characters to show David's journey of profound loss and self-realization—a journey that begins with 9/11, and goes far beyond the reach of the attacks. David's story reminds us that life is a thing of desperate rapture, even at its most terrifying and painful moments.
“Andrew Dainoff's grand aria, All We Can Handle , speaks to our condition like no other play. Absolutely shattering. So truthful and the kind of narrative that you rarely see.”
- Craig Lucas
“One of the best plays I've read in a long time.”
- Jonathan Frank, Talkin Broadway
